Book Guilt #3

I've always had a problem when it comes to reading: I read a lot but I actually seem to re-read more than I read, meaning that I just don't get through my TBR pile and there are a load of very popular books that I own but haven't read yet. Some of the books on my TBR pile have been there for well over a year (sometimes two) and I feel pretty damn guilty about it. The concept of 'book guilt' isn't new here on Through A Cat's Eyes - I've done this post another two times since the start of 2013 (here and here) but I felt like it was about time I did an updated version which is hopefully much better written and edited. Here are 15 books I've never read. I have book guilt.

Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
Across The Universe by Beth Revis
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Life Of Pi by Yann Martel
One Day by David Nicholls
Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
White Teeth by Zadie Smith
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Perfume by Patrick Suskind
Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Feel free to express your outrage and disgust in the comments below. I won't take it too personally... What books have you had on your TBR pile for months on end? Do you have book guilt?
Lots of love, Cat

  1. This post has reminded me of all the books I've wanted to read for God Knows how long, but never get round to it. Prepare for a rant in comment form.
I remember when commenting on Book Guilt #2 that I said I felt really guilty about not reading The Book Thief and admittedly, I do feel guilty about it still but not as much as I did back then as I've tried picking it up 3 times now and am just not enjoying it.
Attachments, Across the Universe and One Day look amazing.
Geek Girl and Delirium are fantastic books, and I know it's only one opinion but I started reading The Night Circus a week ago and 200 pages in, I've decided to leave it for a bit. It's one of those books that you'll only enjoy if you like very slow pacing and constant POV changes.
    Great post!

    1. I'm hoping to try The Night Circus during the Winter because I've been told it's a good Christmas-time book ♥

  2. Cat, I'm hereby awarding you the trophy for making the best typo I have ever seen. I definitely think Cider should be added to the Cinder series :) could add a whole new alcohol awareness element to the book. Haha really made me laugh :) x

  4. I know where you're coming from. My TBR pile tends to grow as well. And I don't do all that much rereading (unless it's a book I'm spotlighting on my blog).

But seriously, read Cinder, it's very good.

  5. I've only read two of these books (Insurgent - not brilliant the first was better, and One Day - it's amazing) so I guess we can have book guilt together :) xox

    1. I've been meaning to read Zadie Smith for ages but just haven't. I own 3 of her books, though ♥

  7. The Book Thief is one of my all time favourite books! I recommend that you don't watch the film until you have read the book (unless you have seen it already!) because it takes so much away from the book! And I recommend the book obviously, but read it in your own time and when you feel like reading it because then it can be enjoyed - which is what it deserves.

Also One Day is a good read and the movie is pretty good too!

And don't worry about the books you have't read yet.. I only just stated reading Harry Potter in the summer and have yet to finish them (the shame - I know!) - Happy reading, Shannon :) (OnTheRead -YouTube)
