September 3rd

Today was good. Like, really good.
I'm 17, meaning that I'm starting to look into university for when I leave school next year. It's all a bit scary - UCAS conventions, uni websites, open days - but I'm gradually beginning to look forward to it a little more and the thought of going to university isn't quite as scary as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm still adequately terrified. :'D Today, I went to my first open day at Glasgow Uni.

If you've been reading TACE for a little while, you'll probably know that I have a fear of public transport, especially trains and the subway or just unfamiliar public transport in general. It freaks me out a hell of a lot but, recently, I've been getting better. Like, back in July, I got 4 trains. :3 Anyway, today started with me going to a train station to get on a train (I guess that's why you go to train stations) and I actually coped pretty well. We got to Glasgow at 10ish then went to get the subway - wait what? The subway? Yeah. I got the subway. I've never got the subway before but the thought of it has always terrified me. It wasn't exactly fun but it was way better than I was expecting and again, I coped pretty well. ♥

Scary transport stuff done, we headed to Glasgow uni and oh my goodness, it's absolutely gorgeous. I've heard a lot about how beautiful Glasgow uni is but it was even more majestic than I was expecting. Although I'm not mad about any of the courses, the campus and city alone are enough to make me want to go there. I love Glasgow so much... We wandered around a bit, cried over how bloody gorgeous it is, explored the 12-floor library, then headed to a cafe on Byres Road to get lunch before getting the subway back to Buchanan Street. Then, we got fro-yo and listened to a couple of amazing buskers for a while.  I realise how pretentious I'm starting to sound but just bare with me. :'D Just before we got the train back home, we stopped off to get bubble tea. I've never had bubble tea but it's such a weird concept and I've wanted to try it for a stupidly long time. Thankfully, I wasn't let down. Bubble tea is goooood.

Now the super-awesome bit. At the start of the day, I was standing with Rachel in a tent-thing on campus when a girl (who I later found out was called Alison) came up to me. She asked if my name was Cat and I said yeah, then she said I have a lovely blog. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. If you're reading this, Alison, you seriously made my day and it was so nice to meet you!

Lots of love, Cat

  1. 12 floor library? SO JEALOUSSSSSSSSS
Glad you had such a good day. I'm guessing the subway is like the Underground. Whilst in London I went on the Underground for the first time - it was something I've dreamed of doing for years, but the idea of escalators and being deep underground terrified me, when actually I absolutely loved it :).
    Bubble tea sounds amazing! xx
