Currently I'm...#7

Reading:
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger. At the moment, I'm doing a bit of research for my AH English dissertation so I'm reading quite a few books that follow the theme of teenage angst and alienation. I'm not entirely sure if I'll stick with that topic for my dissertation but I'm getting started on my reading anyway. First up is The Catcher in the Rye which I've been meaning to read for months (maybe even years) and so far, I'm impressed. Holden Caulfield isn't exactly likable but, for some strange reason, I kind of like him... I'm just over half-way through the book and I have a feeling that it'll become a favourite by the time I'm finished.

Watching:
Wimbledon! :D I talk about this every Summer but I am a huge tennis fan and have been since I was very young, thanks to my Wimbledon-loving mum. Summer isn't Summer without Wimbledon. As always, I'm rooting for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, due to my slightly odd, infinite love for him (my mum thinks it's concerning, I think it's beautiful), but I'm also a huge Nadal and Murray fan. I just really love Wimbledon, okay? :'D

Listening To:
I recently did a little bit of Amazon shopping and bought three CDs that I've been wanting for a while: The Cinematic Orchestra's 'Ma Fleur', New Politics' 'A Bad Girl In Harlem', and Jimmy Eat World's 'Bleed American'.  I've loved New Politics for quite a while now (and I saw them live in March!) but I just haven't had the money to get their CD until now. Finally, it's mine and I love it. My favourite tracks are probably Fall Into These Arms, Overcome and Harlem but I'm not kidding when I say that they're all amazing. Jimmy Eat World's 'Bleed American' is brilliant as well; just a generally brilliant album and I would highly recommend it. My favourites from that album are probably If You Don't, Don't and The Middle but again, they're all wonderful.

Loving:
Do I even need to say it? The Fault In Our Stars! I pre-ordered the book months before it was published, cried a little when I picked it up from the post office, read it in one sitting (crying a ridiculous amount), then read it another 4 times in the space of two years. Now, it's a film. In all honesty, I had pretty low expectations for the film adaptation and I wasn't really letting myself get too excited about it because I didn't want to be disappointed. Luckily, it exceeded my expectations and was actually a beautiful adaptation of the book. If you haven't seen it already, you should. ^_^

Lots of love, Cat

  1. WIMBLEDON! I think my social life pretty much stops for 2 weeks just to watch it and I'm constantly trying to convince everyone it's amazing. Gotta love a bit of Jo-Wilfried ^_^

  2. I'm more of an Andy Murray supporter that Tsonga, but I love Wimbledon.
The Fault in Our Stars film was just perfect in my eyes. I went to see it last Saturday and I left in tears. I didn't cry at the book (I found out the ending before hand accidentally) but towards the end of the film I just had tears streaming down my face.
Did you know if you pre-order the DVD on Amazon you get free TFiOS quote bookmarks? Going to try and see it again this week. Glad you liked it :)

    1. I still love Andy Murray (his birth-town is 40 miles away from me, haha!) but my heart will always lie with Tsonga. :')
      Ohh that's awesome! xx

  3. Fab post, Cat! I read The Catcher in the Rye' last year and although I liked it, I didn't love it. I will say though that my favourite thing about it was Holden. His character was so interesting!

Also, I don't think you're the only one loving TFiOS at the moment... ;)

I actually really like Holden, even though I have a feeling you're not meant to... I agree; he's incredibly interesting. ^_^ xx
